The Power of A Flower

There really is nothing quite like a flower. Even just one single stem! Flowers can lift you up when you are sad, let you know someone thinks you are special, and brighten your day.  They can be in remembrance of someone lost or be a sign of a new special relationship. So what is it about a flower that makes us so happy?

girl-giving-flowersAlmost everyone has a favorite flower. Mine are tulips and lilacs. What is yours? From roses to lilies to daisies, there is just something about them. The bright colors and the smell are just the beginning. Then you have the thought that someone put into giving a flower to you! It can be your kid coming home with a hand full of wildflowers or your sweetheart surprising you.

images (18)From leaving a single little gas station rose in my car to having a big bouquet delivered to work, the Hubs has gotten me quite a few flowers throughout our 15 years together. I love those type of moments best, the complete surprise ones. Not your typical Valentine’s or Mother’s day but the random Tuesday, the “just because” days! But that being said, you don’t have to have someone buy you flowers to enjoy them! Every now and then I will pass by the flowers and say, “I love those, so I am going to get them for myself!”

So, when is the last time you got flowers? How did they make you feel?

Go to your local farmer’s market or swing into Costco, and grab some flowers for someone.
