I am a proud Minnesotan! I love a lot of amazing things about the community in which I live. As a Minnesotan, we love our state fair, our Twinkies, Vikes, and Man-Bear-Pigs (Wild). We are foodies and theater geeks, brewery lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. We are caring and warm people with amazing companies that inspire and give so much back!
The Starkey Hearing Foundation: Gives people the gift of hearing through hearing aids throughout the world. This amazing local company has been giving back for over 30 years and in over 100 countries (and just happens to employ two of my parents). So many amazing celebrities get on board to help out this awesome cause, check out Charlize Theron help out. All donations great and small can help this amazing charity help others hear for the first time. They even had a tv show that followed them to these places. Check out my friend’s post about this same amazing thing!
The Engineering CEOs of Minnesota: a group representing 12 consulting engineering firms in Minnesota, raised $209,000 for food banks and other charities around the state. The members competed to see which company could raise the most money or donated food.
Twin Cities Finest: “They are successful. They are driven. They are passionate about giving back. They are Twin Cities Finest—young philanthropists supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Minnesota.”
NorthMarq Capital: 150 employees at its corporate headquarters in Minneapolis set aside Dec. 9 for employees to volunteer at organizations around the metro area. Workers visited the Minnesota Children’s Hospital to make blankets. They worked with One Heartland to create baking supply kits for young campers and they wrote thank-you notes on behalf of the Minnesota Environmental Fund to donors. The annual volunteering event is an important part of the company’s culture.
Schwan’s: This 65 year old Minnesota company gives back too. Check out their website to see all the awesome ways that this company gives back and fights hunger.
These are just some companies/ groups that give back in Minnesota, but there are a lot of other reasons to be proud of Minnesota. Check this out to see some of the things Minnesota can brag about!
Where are you from? What makes you proud to be from that place and call it home?
Recipe: Minnesota’s Very Own Tater-Tot Hotdish
There are about 7000 different ways to make this and each family has it’s very own favorite, here’s mine!
- 1 bag Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Tater Tots
- 2 Cans Campbells Cream of Chicken Soup
- 1 Cup Frozen Gold and White Corn
- 1 Cup Milk
- Salt and Pepper
Brown beef. Add frozen corn, 1/2 cup milk, 1 1/2 cans cream of chicken soup. Mix and season with salt and pepper. Put in the bottom of a greased casserole dish. Arrange Tater Tots in a single layer. Mix 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 can on cream of chicken soup together and drizzle over top of Tater Tots. Top with salt and pepper. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40-55 minutes or until top is golden and bubbly.
Mixed vegetables instead of just corn.
Cream of mushroom or cream of celery can be changed out for the cream of chicken.
Ground turkey can be used instead of ground beef.
Cheese can be added on top or mixed in.
Google it, I am sure you will find a TON of ways to make this delightful family favorite.
